"Well, I made it to 72 (2014) in good health and quite FHIT. A big part of maintaining good health in spite of being a diabetic is the conscious effort to eat well (90% organic foods, low carbs and no red meat) and exercising on a regular basis. I have been a member of FHIT (and Champions) for over 12 years. My previous trainers and my current trainer, Rachel Callan, have helped me with the proper amount of strength building exercises mixed with my personal cardio-aerobic work – bicycling, walking and yoga stretches. I highly recommend FHIT because of their personal attention to my workouts which helps me with my commitment to maintain a very healthy routine."

"What an amazing program! … 30 minutes twice a week provides complete muscle fatigue and an aerobic response. I can’t imagine a workout regimen providing more for the time and money."

"I have been working out with Rachel at FHIT for almost 2 years. The strength training program they use has benefited me in many ways. The time investment is minimal (30 min/2X per week) and the result maximum. I am 54 and now have more muscle definition than when I was in my twenties. As a frequent flyer, I started with a goal of being able to easily lift my travel bag into the overhead compartment. I achieved that and more. I now help others lift their bags when the need arises. I feel more able bodied than ever, my balance is improved and with some added diet changes, I have dropped 15 pounds. My posture is better and I have more energy. Rachel is great to work with; she’s patient and listens to what I’m expressing. She’s interested in my goals and helping me achieve them. She’s very willing to make adjustments in the workout routine to match my needs. Working out at FHIT is a great experience and has brought me health benefits which impact all aspects of my life. I plan to continue working out at FHIT for many years to come."

"I began working with Rachel as a personal trainer two and a half years ago. It has definitely made me stronger, more flexible, and more “fit” as I age. In addition, Rachel’s ability to listen to physical concerns and take the appropriate steps is very important to me. I used to work out on my own but not much was accomplished because I would “cheat” and stop the workout before I had reached my limit. Under Rachel, I always reach my limit and then some."

"Eight and a half years ago, I began working with Rachel as my personal trainer, two days a week, or approximately 85 – 90 times in a year. I had a right breast mastectomy 8 years ago and have osteopenia. Both conditions could have limited me physically but the training has made me stronger than I was before. My bone density has increased, only slightly, but it has increased, not decreased. I have complete use of my right side and no shoulder pain as I did shortly after surgery. Rachel listens carefully when I have any new physical problems and devises a routine to correct and/or alleviate it. I am 75 years old, but feel more “fit” than I did 10 years ago. FHIT is a warm, welcoming friendly environment."

"Having been with the FHIT program for quite some time and having many good and beneficial experiences, I have learned that while all clients work out using the slow intense method, Karin and Rachel train each as individuals according to their needs, abilities, and goals. My most important experience to date is ongoing – that is (barring the occasional minor ailment) – I can get up each day and honestly say to myself, Hey I feel good!”
